FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION AT NINE ELMS STUDIO
General Studio Enquiries
What are the opening hours?
Our regular opening hours are 8am-6pm for the studio and 9.30am-5.30pm for the co-working space. If you need the studio for additional hours we can arrange overtime up to 9pm.
Can I view the studio space before booking?
Certainly – please contact us to arrange a complimentary viewing of the studio.
Can I hire the studio for an hour?
Yes, no problem. Just get in touch to chat through the timings and feasibility. Just bear in mind that the studio time also includes your set-up and pack-down time so an hour is rarely enough.
Is the studio soundproofed for audio recording?
Yes. Nine Elms is sound-treated to keep external noise out, with an internal ambient noise floor averaging under 20dB — on par with a professional recording booth. If you would like to come and check in advance of a booking, just get in touch and we can arrange a visit. See our studio specs for more detailed information on our soundproofing.
What flooring does the studio have?
The studio's core setup is a white infinity wall and floor, perfect for shoots where the floor is visible in shot. For productions where the floor won't be seen, such as talking heads, interviews, and podcasts, we lay a protective grey carpet by default, which helps reduce footstep noise and audio bounce. If you need a solid black floor, we have a black vinyl floor and black matte flooring available at no extra cost - just let us know when booking.
What services do you supply?
Nine Elms Studio is available for dry hire and wet hire. We can supply everything from crewing to full production services including e-learning content, interviews, presentations, multi-cam filming, streaming, and more. All of our wet hire production services are supplied by Chocolate Films.
How much do you charge?
Our prices vary based on the hire period and any add-ons you wish to make on your order. See our studio price listfor more detailed information.
What happens if I need to cancel or rebook a booking?
We consider a booking to be confirmed when we receive a deposit payment. If you cancel within 2 weeks of the booking we reserve the right to charge 25% of the total booking value. If you cancel 7 days before the date of the booking a charge of 50% of the total booking value is liable. We understand that dates can change, so we may be able to revisit these charges if the booking is rescheduled rather than cancelled.
How do I get to the studio?
Please see our Location page for full address and navigation details.
Is there on-site parking?
Yes, the studio has one parking space of its own, and we can arrange more within the building with advance notice. Let us know how many spaces you need when you book. If you arrive on the day without having pre-booked parking, Sainsbury's Nine Elms and Battersea Power Station both offer pay-on-arrival parking a short walk from the studio. On-street parking Nine Elms is limited.
Does studio hire come with equipment?
The dry hire currently comes with two Aputure Nova 300C lights in the grid, and a selection of coloramas and polyboards. Additional kit is available to hire.
What’s the difference between dry hire and wet hire?
Dry hire means renting the studio space only, you bring your own crew, equipment, and production support. Wet hire means the studio space comes with crew, equipment, and technical support included, so you can turn up and shoot. Nine Elms Studio offers both options, so you can hire the space on its own or book it fully crewed and equipped depending on what your production needs.
Does studio hire come with furniture/scenery?
We have a range of scenery elements, props and furniture that are available for all hires. You can see these at this page. We do not charge hire for these - we just expect them to be left in the same state that they were at the end of the day. If you let us know what you would like to use before the day, we will put it in the studio ready for your arrival.
Can I bring my own crew and equipment?
Yes, we offer both wet hire and dry hire options.
What are your payment terms?
50% payment is required on confirmed booking, with the other 50% taken 14 days before the booking date. If the booking is made less than 14 days before the booking, it is payable in full. We do not provide credit facilities and the full balance is due on the first day of the period when the facilities are to be used by the hirer. Any additional costs/ overtime should be settled on the final day of the hire. The hire shall be subject to VAT.
Can we do live streaming in the studio?
Yes - we have 2 ethernet ports in the space, with superfast fibre broadband fitted for purpose.
Do you offer any discounts?
We offer discounts for community engagement projects, charity projects, and projects that support sustainability initiatives. If any of these apply to you, just let us know when making your booking.
